For the last three weeks I simply cannot use my iPhone. I try and make a call and it either doesnt connect or I start talking to someone and several seconds later the phone says "Call Failed" and cuts the call off. Even when I can speak to someone they cannot hear what I am saying. I am so very very frustrated!!! I've checked the o2 network and it says a phone mast is not working in my area but no-one will give me a timescale when it will be fixed. My mother has a very simple handset and is a pay as you go customer and has no problems using the O2 network and she only lives over the road.
The only advice I've been given is to turn off my 3G and even then the phone calls still fail. What is the point of having a phone with lots of functionality that I cannot use as I have to turn off my 3G to make a phone call.
It is simply not good enough not to have a timescale when the problem will be fixed. My husband also has a iPhone and has the same problem. I'm currently paying for a mobile phone that I cannot use.
All I want to do is to be able to make a call where someone can hear what I'm saying and doesn't get cut off.
I am so annoyed!!!!!!

An update. Went to Apple store and they said it wasn't the phone and to change the SIM. Changed the SIM and it doesn't make any difference. Went to O2 and they said if it happens all over its not the network its the phone. O2 gave me a loan Nokia phone to try.
I put my O2 sim into the Nokia phone and it works fine and can make calls fine which leads me back to it being the iPhone. However, my husband is having exactly the same problems and they occurred at exactly the same time so to me that would have to be a MASSIVE concidence that both our phones developed the same problem at the same time (could this be anything to do with O2 changing over to 4G)?
My final step now is to try a Vodafone sim card I have in my iPhone and see if the iPhone works properly i.e resolves the Call Failed issue. If it does then its obviously not the iPhone and we go back to the issue of it being O2.
Which would mean that there is problem / conflict between using O2 on iPhones.
I'll let you know how I get on.

I also have been having a very very bad 'Call Failed' issue which had rendered my iphone4 useless as a phone, had a look at service status with 02 for my area (Peterborough Cambs) and no problems listed, reset network settings, checked all updates installed......read above comments and decided to disable 3g....made a phone call and did not drop out for all of the call (10 mins) sooooo what now?? Do I leave 3g off?? not sure what to do.
