Re: Iphone

Yeah I know what you're all saying, i can't really see them giving it away free, but if the O2 staff are looking at this forum I hope they're taking our comments on board.
I'm seriously tempted to sell my iphone (once my contract is finished) and then leave O2 forever, cos i'd be pretty disappointed. But if they did give us early adopters a free upgrade it'd be a massive PR stunt, i'd go around saying to everyone "got it free, and I've had nothing but good customer service from the O2 staff". It'd be a shame to let the iphone team down like this, as everyone who i've ever spoken to in iPhone technical support (except 1 iphone specialist in my local branch) have been great. I think this is because they deal with iphone day in and day out (although correct me if i'm wrong).
I think giving us early adopters (say those who bought one in november and december maybe) a free upgrade is the least they could do to ensure we stay with the network and that there wouldn't suddenly be a rash of old iphones on ebay unlocked and on other networks (which is what will happen if people can't easily upgrade).

I very much agree. O2 is far from a great network. I used to be on Vodafone and coverage was exceptionally better than O2, also, Vodafone's customer service was much better.

The only thing to keep me with O2 would be the iPhone. And if I have to pay through the nose for it again, I don't even think that would keep me.

So.

We all want iPhone 2 subsidised, ideally free.

We all want decent coverage.

We all want decent contract terms / allowances.

But we've all failed to consider: what updates, if any, will be available for our current iPhones? Appreciating that 3G is a hardware issue, what are Apple gonna provide to avoid countless note-storing, calendar-holding iPods floating around?

What are we all gonna do with our current phones?

Well maybe we can recycle our current phones and in return get a FREE upgrade. I'm sure previously they've done the same kind of thing with the iPod -- take in your old one and get money off a new one!

I think current iPhones will still be updates when the new ones do with software update. I don't think support for the current iPhone will just stop.

Another thing that's a bit of a disappointment is the camera. When the iPhone was released the 2MP camera was a down side, now they've released a new one and not upgraded it?!

Unless they have and I just haven't heard?

Sorry, I'm very much in the camp of: "It's a bl***y phone! If you want to take piccies, buy a camera!"

For happy-snaps of yer mate gettin' trousered & falling out the pub, it's fine.
