Hi - have just pre-ordered my first iPhone 5g from o2 as part of refresh - will they send me a new 5g sim with it to replace my 4G?

Yes they will send a new sim and you need to do a sim swap when you get it Guide: Sim Swap: a mini guide 2017 update
