Cancelling contract

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi,
I've been trying to cancel my contract.
Live chat is always unavailable. The email service is no longer supported and when I phone I'm told that the phone operators are busy and to go online.
I wrote a letter last week but have had no reply as yet.

I now have 2 months in arrears for a phone that is not being used.

Is there a way of easily cancelling online or do I just need to keep trying on the phone?

Many thanks,

Matt.

Success.
Just spoken to a nice lady at O2 and she has cancelled my account.
She said I had to give notice and pay another month but when I explained I had written and also emailed she looked for the email and found it.
She said O2 will also refund the bill that I paid today.
I'm happy with that!!

Thanks everyone for your help!!

Matt.

You just have to keep trying mate.
Try different times of the day, but it's good that you have sent a letter as a record though.....
Usually options 2 then 0 get's you through quicker.

Why are you 2 months in arrears? If you were on a contract, weren't you paying by Direct Debit? You need to speak to Customer Services on 202 from your phone asap. If your arrears are not settled, you will have a negative marker placed on your credit rating. Did you send the letter to O2 by recorded delivery?

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Thanks. I will try phoning again.
I think it's wrong that it's so easy to upgrade online but not cancel. I know why though.

I'm in arrears 2 months already because I cancelled the direct debit just before it was due to be collected and I've just received the next bill.
I didn't send the letter recorded as I work 7days a week and can only get to the post office on Fridays so I had no other option.
I understand about the credit reference but I have requested a final bill.
I will try calling again tonight and hope they're not too busy.

Cheers.

You need to check with CS but after 2 months + it could already be with a debt collection agency 😞

Well I've finished work early to try and sort this out.
Managed to get through to someone fairly quickly and have paid the two outstanding bills in full so that side of it is sorted.
Unfortunately I still can't cancel as the dept for cancellations is currently updating it's computer systems so I have to keep trying.
I'm not happy tbh.
No doubt I'll end up being charged for another month.

Well you have at least cleared the debt and I hope you can get the contract cancelled as soon as the systems are back up.
