My son and family have recently moved to a remote part of Wales where there is no O2 signal. I visit them often and don't like being out of signal, so proposing to switch to EE or Three, both of which do work there.
My contract is a twelve month sim only Simplicity 300, which runs out in September. It costs £11 per month.
So I presume one option is to buy out of the contract by paying off 9 x £11, and requesting a PAC code.
Are there any other options?
Thanks

Not really unless you can sign the contract to someone else, which might not always be possible.

Thanks for confirming.
I suppose I was hoping that since the reason is no O2 signal, so they are unable to supply the service I am paying for, O2 might release me from the contract.

Hi,
To offset the initial cost you could sell your phone to raise capital to help pay off the contract.
Also perhaps look at options such as O2's Tugo.
And or Viber / WhattsApp

Not getting a signal in a place you only visit wouldn't be grounds for releasing you from your contract.

Thanks.
I don't think selling the iPhone 5 to raise the £99 buyout cost is going to make financial sense. I would then have to take out a new contract which would be a lot more than £11 pm. or am I missing something.
I will investigate Tugo, Viber and Whatsapp, but I think they are messaging not phoning alternatives aren't they.
