Being charged for MMS messages that I sent as SMS problem

[ Edited ]

Recently swapped to an iPhone 5 and head to swap to a nano sim, the change didnt go smoothly and I had to ring O2 to help activate my message service which they did. When I sent a message to a few of my contacts to tell them I was back online it seems that I was charged for MMS rather than simple MMS as the message was just text.

Contacted O2 who sent it to the grandly titled Network Investigation Team, err ally I ask you ?, and they came back after 4 days telling me that I had sent the messages.

THAT WASN'T THE QUESTION, THE QUESTION WAS I HAVE BEEN CHARGED MMS RATE FOR SMS RATE (sorry for shouting).

once again I have made a complaint and had to convince the nice Indian lady that I hadn't sent 150 MMS messages within a 30 seconds period on the 2nd of November.

Is there anyone else within the O2 empire that I can speak to if this sin,t sorted.

Re: Being charged for MMS messages that I sent as SMS problem

sounds like something that's already been answered before.

if you send more than 160 characters (standard 1 sms length) then it will be sent as an MMS.

also it's very easy to forget if u send.on a joke or similar to other friends that u can easily send that many in such a quick time.

That was and expensive mistake. 150 mms at 29p each. £43.50 in 30 seconds. Smiley Surprised

you should be able to go more than one sms before it turn's it into mms. I think on my s3 its about 3sms before it makes it mms.

Re: Being charged for MMS messages that I sent as SMS problem

Just ensure that you are not entering a subject as that auto sends as an

mms I have subject line turned off in settings.

also on an iPhone from my experience longer than 160 send as SMS not mms.

the only way is to now go field a formal complaint.

they have 6 weeks (if I remember) to deal with it

wrong

after following the full complaints procedure listed here http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref(User):str(Mobile),C... you do not complain to ofcom but you contact Ombudsman Services: Communications

Re: Being charged for MMS messages that I sent as SMS problem

Well I went online chat this morning to the complaints dept, they have agreed to remove the excessive charges but I have to pay first and they will refund next month WTF!, what other large service company does this.

no doubt if I don't pay the extra unlawful fees they will suspend my service.

tin pot company with no customer service whatsoever.

what a should I do next !
