Since I upgraded to IOS6 a few weeks ago, I have noticed that the autofill function whilst creating a text message no longer works. As I type in a word, after a few characters the autofill suggestion appears, but whereas before I could click on the word I am typing to autofill the full word, nothing happens, the suggested word just disappears, as if I had clicked on it to delete it????
I wondered if it could be a glitch in IOS6, & I spent quite a while on the online assistance chat thing, only to realise that the "person" on the other end, did not understand what I was going on about, & couldn't write English. Here is the transcript of the conversation!
You're through to Danni.
Danni: Hi I'm O2 - Danni. How can I help?
Chris **: Since I upgraded my iphone to IOS6 the autofill function does not work in messages. The option appears but when I click on the word I am typing the option disappears!! Chris
Danni: Don't worry, I'll check this for you quickly.
Danni: Please give me some more time to check the details/check the account.
Chris **: OK
Danni: Are you not able to use your phone?
Chris **: I am able to use the phone, it is just in messaging??
Danni: Please do check the option in messaging.
Chris **: What??
Danni: In this case, you can fix an appoint with O2 Guru when you want any help with any technical questions with your phone. Click here
Danni: Click here
Chris **: Well that was helpful!! NOT!
Danni: I understand, but you can check this in Option under messages.
Chris **: How do you find "Option" in messages?
Danni: It will help, if this is not working.
Chris **: I cannot find an "Option" to click. I have looked!
Danni: You can fix an appointment with our O2 guru for technical error on your phone.
Chris **: Do you even understand what I am saying?
Danni: Yes,
Danni: What exactly error are you getting?
Chris **: Then where do I find the "option"??
Danni: Its under Messages.
Danni: When you trying to type message.
Chris **: WHERE?
Danni: On your phone.
Chris **: You are wasting my time! Are you English?
Danni: What exactly are you looking Chris?
Danni: I'm all trying to help you.
Danni: If you have any technical questions with your phone you can fix an appointment with our O2 Guru
Chris **: You obviously don't understand English! You can't even write it properly! "I'm all trying to help you"?????? "What exactly are you looking Chris"????? Have you got anyone there that CAN speak English??
Danni: Please accept our sincere apology for the trouble caused to you,
Is it too much to expect that in England, when you need assistance for a service that you are paying for, that you can actually get help from someone who can understand you?? I am NOT annoyed with Danni. I am annoyed that O2 employ people who are unable to answer a simple request, & I have to try to find an answer elsewhere!

I do not experience this problem. To be honest I've turned it off now because its irratateing the lack of English language it comprehends.
However try restoring the phone from iTunes might be a corrupt file in there.
side note: have some respect for these people they're only doing a job. The fact they can speak English even remotely as a second language is rather impressive compared to the majority of English who can barely speak their own language with fines.

Thanks Macblank!! That does the trick! I'm sure that before I upgraded I just clicked where I was typing & it inserted the word! Now what I do wonder is how the person that I was online to, couldn't have told me that??
Just as a response to "Liquid" who earlier suggested that I should have some respect for the person that I had to deal with online ... as I stated in my post, my irritation is not with them, it is with O2 for employing people who cannot understand a simple question in ENGLISH!! When you contact the support services, you shouldn't have to come onto a forum to get help from other customers!
