Attempting to unlock an iphone 6 (sim not supported)

Hi,

A friend of mine just gave me his old iphone 6. He has gone through the unlocking procedure mentioned here
https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices/unlocking-an-o2-mobile-to-use-on-a-different-netwo...
and recieved a text that saying that it is unlocked. This was about 5 days ago.

I finally got round to trying my different network sim and I get the sim not supported error. I have factory reset it and synced with itunes, but every time I put a non-02 sim in the phone I get a sim not supported error.

I asked my friend to go through the process again, but it says that it has already been completed.

Thanks for any help

thanks for your reply.

I can't complete the last few steps on that post as when I enter a different sim. I get an activation required pop-up and then an activation screen that leads to a sim not supported message

It would need you to put an O2 sim back in to get past that message.

I can do all of that, but once I put a non-o2 sim in I get a sim not supported message.

I am assuming the phone is still locked to O2, but the message saying it was unlocked was recieved several days ago

I'd agree that it sounds still locked.
I'd wait for @EmilieT on Monday.

Hey @Tuftey, I just heard back from the gurus and if you reboot your phone then insert a non-O2 SIM you should be all set! Could you give it a go and let us know how you get on please?
