2 i Phones, with 2 different mobile numbers but both receiving the same text messages, Why ?

I have let my son have my old i phone and set up a new sim card for him under pay as you go. Although when I send a text to a contact that we both have in our contacts, the receiver thinks it has come from my sons phone and when the receiver replies both my son and i receive the same text.

It seems the phones are linked, anyone with any ideas of what's happened and how I can fix it ? Smiley Mad

There's a better solution if you want to use the same store account for both devices and there are definite advantages to doing so as it means if you use the same apps you only need to pay for them once

Your son needs to sign out of your Apple ID in the messages settings and the Facetime settings. Once this is done he can sign up for and set up his own Apple ID and use that for Facetime and iMessage but continue to use your Apple ID for the store

He should also sign into his own Apple ID in iCloud rather than using yours as this will get him his own 5GB of iCloud space rather than using yours and will also give him his own account for find my friends and find my iPhone

You fix it by your son creating his own Apple I.d and inputs it into the iPhone.

Settings , iTunes and App Store.

I had the same issue when I gave my mum my old iPhone - for some reason, it used her email address/Apple account information, however for iMessages it was using her number and my email address and therefore we both got the messages.
