Probably not what you want to hear....but many people on the other iPhone threads...gave up waiting for their pre-orders and took a trip to local O2 shop and picked one up instore...

A new bit of info that came to light in another iphone thread is that the Apple Store is able to offer the Refresh Tariff.
so you could look at reserving an iPhone here http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/iphone/ and upgrade in store with Apple and also cancel the one performed with O2 directly.
Obviously if an Apple Store is local to you.
Just another avenue you could look at.
