i have 1 gb of data on my 02 iphone4s contract, does using my home wifi,which is virgin affect/use my 1gb of data?

It is actually turn cellular data / mobile data off

 

Turning 3g off will still alow 2g data

iPhone 11 Pro 256gb on unlimited data
iPad Pro 12.9” 2020 256gb refresh o2 family discount
Apple Watch series 4
My first mobile was in 1995 a CM-R111 from sony on Cellnet.

no you pay virgin for that.

 

Just ensure it is on wifi though

Also remember that on an iPhone, wifi turns off when the phone sleeps so if you want to ensure no data usage when at home turn off 3G until you are out of your wifi range.
