Problem getting a network on iPhone in USA

Anonymous
Not applicable
I was recently in Boston but was unable to get any network coverage. I'm on a contract using an iPhone 4S. I tried all the usual things but still couldn't get any coverage. Is there something I need to do?

It should just work in the usa o2 have roaming agreements in place this old page will let you see what networks http://www.o2-uktech.com/location.php then check the coverage pages for those networks and see if they had coverage where you were

iPhone 11 Pro 256gb on unlimited data
iPad Pro 12.9” 2020 256gb refresh o2 family discount

My first mobile was in 1995 a CM-R111 from sony on Cellnet.

Have you used your iphone abroad before it is possible that your account isn't set up for international use

Thanks. Yes I've used it abroad several times without problem but I've also read material about the network and settings for iPhones in the USA being different to the uk, hence I wondered whether there was anything different I needed to do?

If it was around the time of the bombing in Boston the networks there were under pressure from call flooding:

Also be aware that in the USA they have many restrictions on where and when you can and can't get a network. For example, all networks are turned off within a 5 mile radius of where ever the President is at any time.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)
