"Insufficient Storage Available" on the S2

Anonymous

Every time I try to update apps or add new apps I get the message "Insufficient Storage Available".  I don't think I've loads of apps, not much music, no vids and a few photos.

Any ideas guys?

Have you actually cleared the cache yet? Best done from recovery mode - you don't need to add more apps that are taking up space and adding to your cache issues.....

Firstly you need to check.

Settings, storage. That will tell you what you are using.

Clear you cache, Hold power button and middle square button plus volume down.
select clear cache.

Cache? Is that apps running in background? If so, next to nothing running. In storage, memory card is running low but internal has plenty.

You want this app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.cache

In short, the apps you've been using have been storing plenty of temporary information, and this app clears it for you.

Ok. This is really starting to annoy me. I've took off all my photos, all downloads, loaded the app above and guess what? Yip, thats right, go to update and I get the message again. HELP

I had the same issue with my S2.  I didn't realise it but I had 481 apps installed and over 200MB of cache.

As storing music, photos, videos etc. is done on the 11.5GB memory or external SD card it won't affect the out of memory alert for installing apps.

I'd recommend clearing cache (see above) or wiping the phone.  It doesn't take long to get it set back up again.  Back up your apps using Titanium Backup or Android Assistant and restore to factory settings.

How do I clear cache?  I've tried holding  power button/centre button/volume down together, and nothing (apart from phone switching of) happens 😞

OK I did that. Thanks.

Here's what my storage reads

Internal

Total space

1.97 GB

Apps

365MB

Available

290MB

USB storage

Total space

11.50GB

Apps

365mb

Pics

51.69mb

Audio

265kb

Downloads

444mb

Misc

125mb

Available

10.57mb

That all means diddly squat to me, is that good or bad?

Also, I notice music/pics get stored on internal memory, is there any way to store them on my sd card?
