phone sim unlock

Hi my friend help me to buy a sony xperia z from an o2 store but locked to o2 network during may. As i really like the purple colour of the headset, which is exclusive to o2, the o2 staff persuade me that i can buy a sim card with £15 pounds and call the customer service to deduct the 15pounds to unlock the headset after purchase, and i have been told that my giffgaff sim can be used in a locked o2 headset too. So i decided to get the headset from o2, and used with a giffgaff sim card for a few months. As i have to back to hongkong on 26th, i have to had it unlock to able to use it aboard. But then when i bought an o2 sim card topped it up with £15 and contact the customer service, they said my phone cannot be unlocked. She told me it has to be used with o2 network for 12 months. But my friend has told me before she bought the phone she has asked the o2 staff clearly if they can unlock the phone with new sim card after purchase and they said yes. Now i wanted to unlock it and the custoner service said i cant even if i am willing to pay the 15pounds.  i am leaving on 26th and i cant believe i have spend the money on paying a phone that cannot be unlocked when o2 staff have confirmed with my friend that it can be done with a new sim card. Does anyone know what can i do as im leaving uk soon and i need the phine to make calls when i arrive hk.

I would never advocate using an online unlocking solution company for those reasons.

No support whatsoever.

I would make a few more chargeable calls and try the unlocking form again ensuring you have the £15 credit available to cover the fee.

Good luck.

As you have been advised, a P&G phone will only be unlocked after 12 months on the network. Obviously a big error or misinformation on the salesman's part.

Your best option would be if a friend has an O2 contract and ask them to use their sim in the phone for a few calls and they could get the phone unlocked using the form in my signature. There is no 12 month rule on contract phones.

Also consider making a complaint here : http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref%28User%29:str%28Mob...

I don't see any chance of the phone being unlocked by the 26th though unless you use a local mobile independent store, not something I would recommend to be honest.
