According to O2 on Twitter:

MMS can only be sent over an O2 data connection.  To send a picture over WiFi, try using an IM app or email.  #O2Guru

To support Disasters Emergency Committee: http://www.dec.org.uk/appeals text Nepal to 70000 to send £5

I assume clearing it does not help.

Wondering if it's some form of config message or a mms.

If you contact live chat they should be able to help.

Or phone customer services although be aware of the delays due to the iPhone launch. Their number is in the contact link at the bottom of the page.

It sounds like your wife has received a picture message. Is mobile data switched on? Check with O2 that MMS is provisioned on the account or check the settings here:

Are these messages received from just one person? Have you tried switching on mobile data to download them?

That is right, you need to be on mobile data to receive MMS. Wifi will not work.

Finally got time to pop into o2 shop seems like they are just messages from o2 adverts the girl in the shop believes. And if my wife wants to read them she has to turn on mobile data and being on payg this will incurred a charge, maybe its o2 way of making money.

       thanks for your help
