i deleted all my messages on my galaxy y and then an alert came up that my message memory was full and that i needed to delete messages but it was empty. i cannot now receive messages as they are all rejected. i have switched the phone off and on and removed simcard to no avail. can anyone help?

Because your phones memory is what is called "shared memory", even apps which are stored on the phone can eat into the space you have for messages.

Go into options > settings > applications > manage applications.

Go through to see what applications are using the most "MB".

Typically you will find your most used apps using the most and you can clear the "cache" of these apps which will free up space.
