A DNS is the actual IP address of the website which is converted into a name that is easy to remember.
This process uses lookup tables and if the website you are seeking isn’t updated on the table you can get these kinds of errors.

It doesn't usually effect lots of websites unless you've been unlucky in your choice of browsing, lol.
You can manually change your DNS settings on wifi but not on mobile data but in general, not a lot you can do about it unfortunately.
Of course this could be a completely different issue but as it is effecting you on wifi and mobile data it does point to be a problem with the sites you are trying to access.

I think it is a problem with the phone/network and not the website im accessing as its happen on lots of popular websites e.g gumtree and many other random websites when shopping.

It won't be network related.
Are you running any antivirus apps?
If so, disable them as not needed on mobile anyway and cause problems.
