cant send messages

Hi,

I got a new HTC one m8 a few days ago, and I can make calls, browse the internet and receive text messages. However I can not send any! When I click send it just says message failed. I have checked the message service number and that is correct. I have also tried taking SIM out and restarting phone, and no resolution. Anyone got any ideas?

Hi

Are you trying to send normal texts or ones with emoticons in which would convert them to mms.

Can you try the sim in an alternative phone as a process of elimination ?

It it's ok then ring Cs to check your account.

Remove the sim and give it a clean.

Hi, yes just normal sms texts. Haven't got a phone which will hold the nano SIM card, am planning to go into the shop later when it opens but seeing if I can figure it out before then.

Ok.

If you've recently sim swapped, ported from another network or upgraded then services can take up to approx 24 hours to settle.

Try turning your phone off and on.

Hopefully the O2 Guru in store can resolve this for you in store by checking your phones settings and your O2 account. They may refresh it and check your sms allowance in your tariff.

Don't let then send it off fir any type of repair.

Under 14 days and your entitled to get a replacement but in this case they may sim swap for you just in case your sim is faulty.

Is there an option to add a subject header to SMS messages on Android phones?

I had a simlar problem with a new iPhone and it looks like O2 is not accepting SMS messages with a blank subject header (which is probably the default scenario unless you are prompted for one)?

@Anonymous  Surely if the OP has 'recently sim swapped' as you suggest then why would the phone be working normally for everything else apart from texts?

I honestly can't understand why that would be the case? Smiley Embarassed

Hi @Cleoriff

It has been known for a faulty sim to provide some services ,but not others.

As a process of elimination a sim swap to a new sim rules this out.

Hi @Anonymous

I'm using a Moto X on Android 4.2

Yes you can add a subject field.

However I've tried that scenario and it still sends and is received by my iPhone 5s.
