Xperia xz stereo speakers not working

Anonymous
Not applicable
I don't know exactly when it started but my speakers haven't been working recently. I have sound on a call but can't play music and don't get notifications and alarms don't work either. I have tested my speakers in the service menu and earphone works but speaker and stereo speaker left and right don't play any sound at all. Any ideas as to why?
The handset hasn't been damaged that I know of and everything else is working fine.
Thanks.

It could be either hardware or software related.
First check is to back up and do a installation repair with Xperia companion.
If that doesn’t fix it, you’d be advised to contact Sony for repair advice.

Thanks for the advice, I haven't had time yet but will be trying a backup and installation repair later today so we'll see how it goes.
