4G calling and WiFi calling work on pretty much all Xiaomi phones, just needs a code typed in to disable carrier checking. Had it working on both a Mi9T and Mi8 Pro.

I was struggling with this on Mi 9 Lite, solved it by typing the following into the phone dialer:
VoWiFi *#*#869434#*#*
VoLTE *#*#86583#*#*
These disable the carrier check and then the options to turn on VoWiFi and VoLTE become available in the SIM card setting.
