How long is the warranty on a new phone, purchased from O2 in February? If its a reasonable amount of time, then should insurance be purchased initially for loss/theft of phone only? This may seem a simple thing to ask, but its amazing how advice varies on this topic (not from this forum I might add!)

Your Samsung has 2 years for manufacturing defects and hardware/software failures. It's not covered for accidental loss or damage, theft or abuse so these are the instances where you would consider an insurance claim.

Bottom line - If you can't afford to pay out for a new phone, if you lost yours, take out insurance or self insure by putting a set amount away every month.....

Some home contents insurance policies cover mobile phones for loss or theft. Check to see if yours covers you before you go shelling out for a policy specifically for the phone.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

I am with barclays and they offer a 'current account plus' option which for £6.50 a month gives you mobile phone, gadget (i.e. laptop) and card insurance - there's an excess on the phone insurance (£25 - or £50 if you have a ?Phone Smiley LOL) - worth checking what your bank can offer slight_smile

I second that about the banks I'm with natwest and their select silver account offers mobile insurance plus many other benefits for £10 a month including 5 free mp3 downloads each month worth £5 much cheaper than o2s insurance for my iphone
