Unable to get Apps

Anonymous

I have a  Samsung Galaxy Ace.  I have downloaded the MyO2 app (I think).  I received a text message to say the mobile should be set up for this now but I can't see the app icon anywhere to access it.  I've tried switching on and off and re downloading several times.  Also removed sim, wiped and replaced but no joy.   All pre-loaded apps seem to be working but I can't add any others (tried to get a couple from the Market to test the system).

I have 2 step verification on my Google account and wonder if this is causing some problems as I keep getting failed authentication messages for Google Talk for some reason when I try to install a new app from the Market.  I know about app specific passwords (ASP) and have one set up to get Gmail on my mobile, which works fine but I'm not being prompted for a password when I try to install a new App.  Many thanks for any help.

It sounds like you are not signed in to google play. Open the play store app then go menu >accounts and check you are signed in or that the correct email address is been used.

If the phone is asking for 2 step verification then it's not required for what you are trying to do. Mostly, once the phone is verified it applies to all apps on the phone so I don't believe it's an asp problem. Are you seeing any error messages flash up after the phone tries to install the app? Anything like "Failed to install", "Insufficient Memory" or anything else?

Does it appera to be downloading the app OK and just not installing it or are you having problems downloading?

Hi thanks for thinking about my problem.  I think I solved the MyO2 access  and can now get to my account.  I expected to see the apps icon appear on my screen but it didn't so I get there using a bookmark with the internet link.  It goes straight to my data so presumambly it's set up OK?

With respect to downloading other apps (I tried sky map from the Market) I get the following messages in this order:

"Google Talk authentication failed"  " if this is a Google Apps account confirm that chat service is enabled" (I have enabled chat on my Google account)

" Download was unsuccessful please try again"

Again many thanks for your help.
