You don't need to connect to itunes. Since getting the confirmation email have you tried another network sim?

@mitch74 where did you get the phone from?
A no service message would mean a faulty or barred phone. If it was locked it would say activation not supported by carrier.

it works fine on o2 just not on ee!

@mitch74 you say you've tried 2 Sims? Are they both EE Sims and do you know that EE has network coverage in your area?
If the phone is saying no service it means the SIM is at least accepted by the phone so would indicate that it is unlocked but not able to connect to the network.

quick update ive put a vodaphone sim in and it works along with o2 but ee and 3 dont work!!

No coverage in your area on those networks then I guess......
and, the phone is unlocked.
Unless it's only picking up 800mhz - have you got network selection set to auto?
