Sony Z1 issues

Hi all,

My wife is having issues with her Sony Z1. These are:

  • headphone jack not recognising when headphones are inserted (tried a range of headphones)
  • camera app gives 'camera app not available' error rather frequently, a reboot and closing/opening the app a few times solves this [not ideal]
  • when camera app works and you take a photo, occasionally it causes a phone lock-up
  • phone overheats massively when doing simple tasks like browsing the web - have removed all apps from the phone and left at stock to ensure it wasn't a rogue app causing this, no change
  • phone locks up when under a bit of stress - I say stress but it's not as though my wife plays graphically intense games. Music playing in the background with 2048 open is as intense as it gets for her.

My younger sister has a Z1 and has none of these issues, I'm fairly confident she has just been unlucky and got one out of a faulty batch. Is this something O2 can help me resolve or do I need to get in touch with Sony? What would resolve the issue quicker? I presume they will attempt a repair and if unsuccessful then replace?

Thanks,

Fahd

Hi

Check no dirt is in the headphone jack and push it in and out a couple of times firmly.

Possibly a soft reset which is typically turning the phone off , battery pull if applicable and turn back on does not help then a hard reset can help as a last resort.

As this typically deletes saved data it's best to perform a back up first.

Remember this is a last resort.

Either O2 or Sony can look at the phone for you but you would likely get a better level of service from dealing with Sony directly.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Thanks for the replies guys. I've tried the hard reset for her but the problems still exist. I have tried cleaning the headphone jack also.

I'll get on to Sony as soon as I get home from work.
