Sony Z1 Compact help - calls cutting out after 10seconds

I have had my z1 compact for about a month and now for about a week everytime I make or recieve a call just goes silent the person cant hear me and I cant hear them, the phone hasnt hung up it acts as if it is still on the phone

Its not the signal or other persons phone as its happened in various places/people.

Any ideas before I take it back to the shop?Help

Hi.

Ensure the speakers / ports are clean.

You could try a hard reset but do make a back up first to save your Data.

Try having your sim swapped at an O2 shop first.

Can you try your sim in another phone as a process of elimination.

Ensure your on the most up to date firmware too.

If all fails I would seek assistance from the phone manufacturer before O2 repairs.

Look in their home page for uk support.

Try it on speakerphone and see if it still does it.

Ok after messing about with it I've just realised if I stay typing on my phone on whatsapp or something it doesnt cut out but as soon as I stop typing a few seconds before the screen will go blank (cos ive not done anything) thats when its cutting out!

You may have to perhaps try out the advise given.

As a workaround you could turn off the proximity sensor during calls but you shouldn't have to do that so something is not right. Is there a screen protector fitted at all?

Haha I will try your advise aswell!!!

 

There is no screen protector , how do I stop the screen from timing out during calls would that stop it from happening ?

As it appears to be shutting off when the screen blanks out it's worth trying.
Look in call settings for proximity sensor or turn off screen during calls etc.
