If calling isn't getting you anywhere then you need to complain.

Have you checked the network for your postcode?

@Anonymous By all means lodge a complaint as has been suggested, but didn't anyone from customer service suggest that you try the TuGo app on your phones as you're not getting a good signal at home?

Ive been with them for 4 years. bills tranging from 80-120 quid a month. Work in France atm and the ****** charged me 220 quid just to have my phone on here for 5 weeks. Terminated contract as of yesterday as if i miss payment by a day or two i get threatening letters with court action and submission to credit score agencies. Thanks but no thanks

@Anonymous Have you terminated your contract without giving notice, or have you gone through the proper procedure? If you haven't paid off your contract and have just cancelled, you will get a negative mark on your credit rating, and you won't get a contract with any other mobile network. A negative mark on your credit rating can last up to six years. This is a customer to customer forum. What I'm telling you is not a threat. It is a fact.
Please take a look at this guide:

I understand it's frustrating for both of you but as stated the correct procedures must be followed, otherwise it is you, the customer, that will suffer the most.
@Anonymous the advice to turn off 3g and 4g is to enable the phone to use (the normally stronger) 2g signal for calls.
It is assumed that you have wifi at home for the Internet but if not (and when away from home) you must re-enable 3g or 4g for data services.
@Anonymous the correct cancellation process is detailed here http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Cancelling-Your-Contract-A-Guide/m-p/566774/highlight/true#M56526
