Hi good people where in the settings do I find how to extend the time the lock screen stays on it goes off after about 5 secs at the moment

You can't change that without rooting.

Settings -> Display -> Screen timeout I have mine set for the maximum time..

Why would you want longer?
Just tap the screen and it resets the timer
