Samsung S3.

I have a Samsung s3 for nearly 2 years and I'm having a lot of problems, it freezes, in the right hand corner next to the battery display it comes up with a sign like this🚫, I can't use it, it turns its self off and then takes ages to turn on and then the battery can show that it's empty, I am on my second battery, I hope someone can help, I don't actually want to leave O2 as they have been great, I paid my phone off but still have the contract with my calls etc.

Turn off phone and hold volume up + Home + Power until you see a green android on screen, then let go of the buttons.
Wait for recovery menu to appear and use the volume keys to move cursor to factory reset. Press power key to do the reset. Wait for menu to come back on screen then press reboot / restart now.
You will lose all your stuff and have to set up phone again but it should get your phone working again and anything backed up to google will re-sync when you log in with your google account again.

It sounds as if the phone is in factory mode: http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2013/08/exit-factory-mode-samsung-galaxy.html

Maybe @MI5 can confirm on the best way out of it, and if the advice in my link is correct.

If it is in factory mode you need to be rooted to edit the control file.
This is usually a faulty PIT that causes the issue so reflashing the firmware may fix it as per my previous link.
Instructions here if you are rooted https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My_g28MrlwU

Your options are either to root it or just contact Sammy for a repair http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/servicelocation/
