Samsung Pay

Anonymous
Not applicable

After all the hype over Apple Pay I have just been reading some articles about Samsung Pay, which is reported to be heading to the UK by the end of the year.

An interesting feature of Samsung Pay over Apple Pay is that the Samsung works pretty much on all card readers, not just contactless ones - in effect the phone can generate the required magnetic fields etc that would be created if the card was swiped through the reader thus 'fooling' (not always a good word when used in conjucntion with systems like this!) the card reader into acting as if the card had indeed been swiped. They call this MST or magnetic secure transmission.

Downside, only available on the S6 variants and Note 5.

I'll be interested to see how this turns out. I had an iPhone just as Apple pay was being rolled out and I used it a couple of times. It's a very good system.

I don't care what rank I am and neither should anyone else.
