Update 22/10, 8:00:

Samsung has confirmed the Jelly Bean update is now available.

Update 20/10:

As you might have noticed, this hasn't gone live yet. We were expecting it to on Friday and are working with Samsung to figure out what went wrong and will update ASAP.

Original message:

Hey Guys,

Good news! The wait time is almost over for Samsung Galaxy SIII users. From tomorrow, 19th October '12, you'll be be able to upgrade to the much awaited 4.1 Jelly Bean update over Wi-Fi or via Kies.

If you have activated the 'auto-update' feature from out of box, you will be prompted to download the 4.1 Jelly Bean update.

JB

One thing I have noticed today is that my battery seems to be discharging quicker with JB - and its not due to playing with the phone more as I'm at work and it just sits on my desk.

Do you need to carry out a full battery discharge when you upgrade the OS?

Yes, I advised that earlier in the thread to recalibrate the battery chip....

Cheers MI5

Also just noticed the 'swipe up' for Google Notes does not appear to be working, the only way I can get into it is to hold the home button and select it by pressing the 'g' button - anyone else having this issue?

I think that's only for tablet or handsets with no physical home key.

Leave phone on until it turns itself off. Then recharge from a wall charger with phone still off until it reaches 100% in one charge. Unplug charger, then reinsert charger, wait for 100% again then remove charger and battery for 3 mins. Re insert battery and use as normal. Should now be calibrated. The phone will learn this over a period of a couple of weeks but this just speeds up the process.....

Thank you for the tip MI5, it looks like my battery needs recalibrating, it isn't a big deal because I am normally near power, I'm at home today so to speed things up I will run a film on my handset to run down the battery.

OT, how does one use the quote feature on this board please.
