Recently My phone (samsung galaxy s2) become crazy, it just auto shut down for no reason and it is very hot. When I restart the phone, it tell me battery low, then turn off again. After a few minutes, then I turn on the phone again, it show me i still have more than 50% battery.

I try to do some experiment on it, i charged full and leave it overnight, the phone didn't turn off at all, untill the next morning, when i tried to make a call, it shut down again, even the battery still have more than 30%.

The only apps that I installed more or less straight away were facebook and ebay... which are what I use the phone mostly for... so haven't eliminated them... The problem took about 2 days to return, and admittedly does not happen as OFTEN, but is happening more randomly if you know what i mean?

Thanks for all your help guys, I am passing phones 4 u tomorrow so will pop in and ask what the deal is anyway, and if not, will contact o2.

Thank you!! xx

A faulty battery can cause these type of issues. (there are other potential causes but I would try a battery first).

Sounds similar to the problem I had.

Does your wifi work or does it show a dull green icon rather than a bright green with the wifi highlughted underneath?

Just asking that question in case as I beleive there are possibly two or three problems that could cause that.

As MI5 said possibly the battery but I purchased a new battery and it did not work for me but could possibly be the cause of your problem.

I would think back to any recent apps added or recent app updates as upon removal of those I found the phone stopped locking up saving me from having to reboot to get the phone started again.

This did not stop the battery discharge problem or the overheating. For that I had to do a complete factort restore back to JB and build it back up. I suspect a file got corrupted somehow maybe through one of the app updates???

If you have the Wifi issue then I am afraid it needs to be sent away for repair with the likehood it being the BATT500 leaking.

O2 or samsung will not take it for repair till you have exhausted all other options so as to eliminate any software problem.

Let us know how you get on.

My S2 is doing exactly the same thing and starting to p*** me off... 😞

I was having a problem in that when my wifi was on it would randomly freeze, mostly only when I was using the internet, eventually turn off, then when it goes back on would have little battery left or at least 30-50% less than when it had when it switched off... but would last for ages on that, and sometimes crept back up a few %???!

Done full factory reset, cleared cache etc...  and now it STILL does it, but more randomly, and even if I am just browsing my pictures or scrolling through my apps for example?!?!

I am on a 24 month contract, due out next August.... If I took it back to Phones 4 u (where i got it from), can I get it repaired still???

You have 24 month warranty from Samsung so they will repair or replace it for you, but, your problem sounds like an app conflict. Do you have any battery saving apps installed at all....?

They are the ones I would say to get rid of first, but it still could be another one you have installed..

Samsung have a 24 month waranty on the handset ( not the battery).

After doing a factory reset without adding apps back on did you have any problems. If you did a factory reset and then restored with the apps you had on before then you have not elimated the apps or a app as the problem.

If you have done all that and still a problem then speak with the O2 repair team and they will arrange for it to be repaired or you can take it into a O2 shop. They will organise repair for you.
I have to say that taking into the shop has been problematic for some so I would suggest my first option.
