S5 Mini upgrade to Adnroid 5.1.1 fails at 28%

I have an S5 mini and a while back ago I received notification that Android 5.1.1 upgrade was available, but when I attempt to install it, every time it fails (says "Error") when it gets to  28%.  It's annoying because a) I want to install the update, and b) I have a constant notification telling me about the update and have no way to clear it.

I was just wondering if anyone might know what's causing this problem?

Hi @Anonymous A quick read shows that you may not have enough storage to successfully download the upgrade. However I will ask Android experts @MI5 @jonsie or @viridis to advise further

Thanks for the quick reply, Cleoriff. My device says I have 5.75GB of device storage available - should be plenty?

Sounds like a few apps need deleting to free up system storage.
Also, try going into settings, storage, and click on cache, then clear it.
That normally frees up a fair bit.

Back up phone then factory reset it.
Apply the update before restoring your apps and photos etc.

Thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated.  I've cleared the cache (which cleared 900MB) and tried again but same problem.  I'm not too fussed about upgrading, so going to lengths of deleting apps and doing factory resets is a bit beyond what I'm prepared to do to upgrade.  So instead I've de-selected the option to automatically check for updates, so I don't have the constant notification telling me I have an update to install.

I'll check back in a few days, just in case someone says it might be caused by something else.

Thanks again
