S4 battery dying on 4G, modified device. 4G service is pants.

I knew that when 4G was activated my battery would take a hit but now on two occasions once at 20% and once at 10% my device has just died. When i got the phone back on charge the device was at 0%.

Once again, checking for a software update my device says that i have modifed my software. The only time my phone has ever been plugged into a computer was when i connected it to kies to get the 4G update.

I think that a trip to an o2 store is in order. This isn't good enough.

Also does anyone on the forums live in the SE1 area or work / play in and around the London Bridge area? 2 bars of 4G maximum. According to the 4G checker i should have full bars of service. Not good enough o2.

Hi.

Our friends across the pond first talked about the hit on battery on Lte/4G ,but that could be compared to when Uk Networks supplied 3G from 2G.

Plus people naturally play more with their phones when something's new on it.

Time will tell to how 4G effects the handsets battery output.

Even tho the mast is showing fine you can challenge it by ringing 02 on 202.

Ask them to check your account is Ok while on the phone to them.

Ask people in your area on 02 if they are having the same issue.

The signal bars are a breathing effect and will flicker up and down and is a representation on how the phone is reading the strength ,and is not 100% accurate.

If you haven't installed a custom firmware or rooted the phone then I would go with having the phone checked out by the manufacturer ,or 02 as a last resort.

You could try the usual remedies of cleaning your SIM card or replacing it in an 02 store and asking them to perform a swapmysim to move your tariff and number over.

Hope all goes well for you.

I'm a little confused by the OP's post. If there's a battery or software problem, why is this O2's fault?

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

I'm thinking maybe the OP means the phone was supplied by 02 ,and as such if the firmware has corrupted somehow it would be reasonable for 02 to look at it.

Maybe the OP will return and confirm either way
