Poorly Samsung Galaxy S2

Hi there anyone else had problems with the Samsung Galaxy SII, in that it gets hot, screen flickers and shuts down, or apps crash for no reason?

Mine has been doing this for about 6 months now, the phone would shut down, and then restart having gone from about 60% charge to 'Battery Critically low - plug in charger', but if you removed the battery for about a couple of minutes and then put it back in, the battery indicator would magically bounce back up to 60% again.

I did take it in to the store to be repaired, they sent it off, it came back, as usuall wiped clean of all data, with a second hand battery in it to replace the swollen one that had been getting very hot.

I then started experiencing problems connecting the wifi, the icon would go pale green, but not illuminate completely, requiring a full power reset to get it to activate, combined with a very poor abaility to pick up the mobile network signal.

Another trip to the shop, where this time they replaced the SIM, even tho the sim had been replaced when my previous phone had been stolen a year previous. this solved the problem for a short while, tho not the wifi issue completely.

Another 2 months down the line and the replacement battey started to get warm, then hot, only this time I was on holiday and was attemting to use it for sat-nav and trail recording/ gps positioning while walking abroad, then the dreaded screen flicker and issues again as previously stated where battery charge would fluctuate, it would shut down and then fail to stay on for more than a minute. The battery had again swollen and could be spun if placed on a flat surface.

On my return from abroad I took it to the shop again and they once more sent it off, and once more it returned, with another second hand battery, and tho my phone had been dispatched with a pristine battery cover (I have always kept it in a gel case for protection, with a screen protector as well) the returned item was scuffed and the Samsung logo had been almost worn away, nore than slightly annoying to say the least, I like to keep things pristine if possible!

Again I re-loaded all my data and apps, but now the phone closes apps randomly, displaying the message

Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped.

the battery seems to still be warmer than it used to be as well, I'm rapidly loosing faith in the phone and also in the repair process with O2!

Any ideas please..

Sounds like you've been messed about by Anovo (not uncommon I'm afraid). There are many reports of them recycling phones around different customers when they can't find an issue with them. I certainly wouldn't expect to receive a clearly worn second hand phone back. There is no point trying to go through the issues attempting to fix them, I'd be onto O2 complaints and politely requesting a new replacement phone. I am concerned that you have managed to overcharge 2 batteries though. Are you using the correct charger for the phone and not leaving it on charge for longer than 10 hours?

I hate to say it but o2's repair service is terrible you only have to look on this forum for the amount of complaints about it I cannot believe they are still using the same company

I would agree you should be entitled to a new phone after all the hassle you have had with them

Hi there, thanks for the reply.

I'm using the charger that came with it, and it's never left on charge that long, the longest being overnight occasionally.

I'm looking at hopefully getting something sorted out this weekend, but I do agree with you that a new phone would seem like a fair deal considering the annoyance I've experienced.

Hi Folks,

Well after emailing the CEO and then back and forward to one of their subordinates, I mamaged to get them to agree to replace the phone with a reconditioned one, even though it would have been done anyway, as the phone I have has started playing up again!

He also threw in a free months line rental (woo hoo, be still my beating heart).

Thats the good news, I one more trotted up to the shop, picked the 'reconditioned' phone up in its little box, took it home and popped my SIM in, all seemed good, it was as new, still had some of the plastic protectors on it, but as it updated, downoloaded apps and registered my information it dropped mobile network signal.

Thats strange I thought, my old phone was at least getting full signal strength all the time here, then the signal bounced up and down until it wouldn't connect at all.

I did a factory reset and cleared the cache, tried again, and it did exactly the same thing, or would float about 2-3 bars signal when it should really be full strength.

I've sent a fuming email to the guy that was organising the replacement and informed him of my displeasure and growing frustration/quiet seething anger at his employer..

This complaint isn't resolved by far yet!

Don't accept reconditioned phones - Stick to your guns for a NEW one.....
