Phone not working

I have a Sony Xperia that has stopped working (nothing happened prior to this, I left it charging overnight and in the morning it showed my lock screen and a fading notification bar, but I couldn't do anything so I tried to turn it off and on again). When I try to turn it on it says powered by Android, plays the Xperia animation, says Sony and shows the repair symbol. If the phone is charged this continues as a loop. Any thoughts? Thanks

Try holding power and volume down for 30 secs or so until the phone vibrates.
