@GeoffHemingway your phone might have been a genuine unlocked device with a CSC of BTU which require no network testing of the firmware. The ones from O2 I believe have a CSC of O2U. If you go to Settings>About Phone>Software Information and scroll to the bit that says Service Provider SW Ver. What does the bottom line say? Mine is O2U/O2U/O2U. I imagine yours will say BTU somewhere.

Yeah i would assume it had a BTU as i have 4 friends all with note 9 on 02 and none have recieved pie yet. Do we know how long it took for 02 to test the S9 version of the firmware? if theyve had it since the 24th then we can atleast get an idea of how long we wait. Sad that the s9 02 variants have had the update already when the note 9 is supposed to be the flagship etc

Any updates on the ETA?

In the future could O2 release the update to its customers as soon as they get it?

Then they could only let it automatically update when they deem it "stable".

On the matter of whether O2 would be blamed if an update is unstable, I highly doubt anyone would make that assumption in this day and age. What are your thoughts?

I think all carriers should release it as soon as Samsung do... if Samsung think it is stable who are the carriers to say otherwise?

@Cleoriff only to factory unlocked devices and third party sold BTU/XEU devices. Phones purchased direct from O2 (O2U) are still waiting for the update.

@danetweedale

Sorry to hear that. I was also going on what @EmilieT posted here (earlier in the thread)

https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Android/Note-9-android-pie-update/m-p/1195011/highlight/true#M71331

ie it's being rolled out in batches...

I have just flashed mine as I got bored with the wait. Absolute love the new software. Flashing was so easy aswell. Although I downloaded a BTU version of the software and ended up with XEU once I'd reset my device etc? Strange but not that it makes a difference I guess. I think BTU is direct from Samsung and XEU is unlocked third party... I might he mistaken though. I'd be interested to know though.

@RL1502

I made a note of this when it was posted sometime ago by @MI5

BTU firmware is on phones that come directly from Samsung (unbranded)
XEU firmware is on Sim Free handsets that are generic (unbranded) but not Samsung

No doubt if I have this wrong, I will be told in the morning...LOL
