Last month my wife used her phone for a virtual reality experiment and went over her 500Mb allowance. She bought more data and when the experiment finished deleted the app and it's service. However, now in the new monthly billing cycle she still has the 'out of data' notice plus a 'sign into network' notice and the signal bar icon has a cross at the bottom right.

The phone shows she has only used 62Mb out of 500 Mb monthly allowance but she is unable to use data for messaging, email, chrome etc.

Anyone any idea hw to remove the notice and get it to connect properly?

(I have the identical phone, nexus 5X, on the same contract and have no problems at all) - I've updated Android and done a hard reset on her phone to no avail.

There must be something left over from the app blocking data use then. Your only option may be a factory reset unless you can find it.

What does her MyO2 say she has used http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2 ?
Other possibility is that some part of the app is still on her phone somewhere causing the issue.

I don't know. Since she can't download any data she can't connect to myo2. She even has the app but that doesn't work for the same reason. But the vr was just a one off for work. Usually she'd never go above more than 100Mb per month out of 500Mb and we are only part way through the month. I am pretty certain that she is nowhere near her limit.

You can login online on a pc or laptop to check.
Need to know if any data is left for this month first.

It says 500Mb free out of 500Mb, with 31 days left, as expected since she cannot use data.
