I purchased a Galaxy A3 about 3 months ago and the other day accepted the OTA lollipop update.
Everything seemed to go swimmingly (abeit slowly), until today....
I plugged the phone into the PC for the first time and there is no trident in the notification bar. Swiping down shows the "connnected as a media device" card and the device shows up and works fine in windows.
Is this simply a new "feature" in lollipop or am I missing something?

I see, well that blows. I liked the little trident. Its removal serves no purpose but at least I don't have to start messing with facory resets and the like.
If that's how its now "suppossed" to be then nothing is wrong/broken, so....
