My Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 Kies problems

Anonymous
Not applicable

I'm using my Galaxy Mini 2 on a O2 Simplicity contract and the handset gave me a message to check if there was a firmware update about 2 weeks ago.

So, connecting the handset to my PC through the provided USB cable my PC started to download the Samsung Kies software but seemed to hang whilst doing this. After several minutes an error message appeared through InstallShield Wizard in Vista saying:

You are not connected to the Internet. Installation cannot proceed. Please check the Internet connection and try again.

Well, that's incorrect because I am always connected to the Internet using VirginMedia Cable Broadband.

I have now tried this operation many times and between have re-booted my PC, Defraged, and even Diagnosed and Repaired the Internet connection to give me a new IP address.

None of this has resolved this issue.

Has anyone else had this, or a similar problem with Kies and can they tell me how they solved it and installed Kies to work successfully.

I must be one of the luckier ones as not had that many issues with KIes. I will say that Jonsie has it right for this and the anti virus is always a good shout for MI5.

I found that it is best to completely remove Kies Including running a registry cleaner (ccleaner)

and completely re-install. I think a lot of people are trying to install over the top and I learnt that mistake pretty early on.

In another thread it was reported they had to re-install Kies 4 times before it would work properly.

It is getting blocked by your anti virus software. Turn it off temp whilst you download Kies....

I did that each time but I think Kies is just very temperamental and unstable. In the end I used Revo Uninstaller and then ran CCleaner to fix the registry issues and managed then to get a clean install.

So many complaints about phone software for the pc, they don't seem to bother too much about it do they?

Well folks,

Iv'e tried, and tried again and again and had no success at all.

I have a call booked with Samsung Kies Support Team since last Tuesday and they gave me a 48 hour call back but that hasn't happened.

I also visited the O2 Shop in my local town and they told me to book a Guru appointment but being a new O2 Customer of only a couple of months I don't know how to do this. I'm still learning, lol.

Can any help me with this as I do want to sort the Kies issues out and get it to work as it should.

PS: I also have a Sony Xperia Smartphone which uses their management software called "PC Companion" and I have never had any issues as I am with the Samsung Kies. Perhaps we should all complain to Samsung and force their hand into doing something about this un-user friendly software.

do u use ie as ur browser???

or if not try changing it

when I had vista I used chrome. as was a lot lighter on the system as vista uses so much processor n ram just to run and this makes everything else suffer.

that's why as soon as I could I got win 7

I agree

ccleaner is very good and free. its good tongue something like that at least once a month anyway.

also go into DOWNLOAD folder and manually remove copies of the .ex files that u get when downloading files.

then go back to Samsung support and download from there.
