Lollipop update for note 3

Anonymous
Not applicable
It seems that the more we pay on our contracts with O2, the less information we get. I want to know today please where the lollipop update is, and when it will roll out for us or I will go to someone who has it, it is an update that is available to everyone, not just Vodafone and Orange, everyone. So get your acts together and get the job done o2, and reply today with the proper information and links to download!!

Samsung haven't released the UK generic firmware yet (o2 may or may not have it for testing, who knows?) but I do know 100% that you won't be downloading it today.
As it will also be 5.0 when it is released you would be advised to wait until at least the 5.01 update anyway, that's if you want some friendly advice from someone who has used the firmware already wink

Well I purchased my Note 3 sim free off network, and it hasn't received an update yet, which is very frustrating.

Well apart from the security fixes, I'm frankly not looking forward to it at all based on what I've read.  Surely Samsung will roll the 5.01 update in to the generic release now?  Or will we still end up applying it in bits?

Why oh why can't those of us who buy their phones sim free, off network, just dowload the signed firmware by ftp, put it on an sd card, and flash it ourselves?

I thought the idea of Android being open source was, in part, to make it techie-friendly.  What a joke.  Doing anything hacky with Android involves so much bumming around that at least I lost interest in it and spend my time on other things, whilst the wannabes who think they understand more than they do, make a right mess of rooting their handsets and wondering why they become fouled up after they just left them wide open.

Sorry for the rant Smiley LOL

I deon't see the rush. Let it be tested properly by others before being disappointed that your lovely phone is now lagging, overheating and draining the battery in four hours. I've been bitten before so won't be rushing into any update until I've read the user experiences.

Samsung firmware is available to download now if you want and no need to root either, it's just not officially released OTA or via Kies.
The Note 4 will go straight to 5.01 but the firmware released so far for Note 3 is only 5.0, but I'm sure 5.01 isn't far away.

How's the S3 jonsie - any of those issues apparent?

The S3 is running well on 5.0.2, no issues at all. Battery lasts 2 days with light use simply because it isn't my main phone. My only real concern with it, though it isn't a problem tbh, is that with everything closed down there is only ever around 300mb ram available. As the ram is only 1GB this is to be expected I suppose, it shows how fast phones are evolving these days.

My advice would be to wait, certainly for 5.01...

Is the Note 3 firmware available anywhere other than dodgy third party websites?  Or is it at least signed by Samsung?  Presumably I still need to upload it via USB using some weird software I've got to make work on one of my computers Smiley Frustrated or have things moved on since I last fiddled around with these things?
