Hi I've had my G4 for about a month now but yesterday the battery drained very fast. Ever since then when my battery gets to around 50% it jumps to 3% and starts rebooting. Charging the phone doesn't resolve the issue.

I would normally expect this to be either a battery or a charge circuit fault.
I doubt it is software related so I would suggest you contact LG to have them look at it for you.

Strangely enough I have a similar issue on a Note 4 which has happened twice now. The battery gets down to 20% and seconds later it drops to 3% then switches off. Not a big problem in itself but puzzling...

That is screaming a battery fault. Perhaps if you have a local O2 store nearby they would do a battery swap (doubt it) other than that it's off to LG under warranty.

DO NOT use O2 to repair it!

Forgot to add that it tries to reboot,  gas as far as the startup screen then switches off again and the battery is at zero.

Removing the battery and putting it back in a bit later sometimes helps.

Dropping the phone or a small amount of water ingress to the wrong area could cause strange issues.

Well it has been dropped once or twice, though it bounces well but it's never been near water.

I would get in contact with LG, they will help out, they fixed an issue my wife had with her G3 nice and quickly, she was without her phone for less than a week

I have had it a month and dropped it once with no problems, I went camping over the weekend and my phone was in my tent for the most part so I'm wondering if the fluctuation in temperature or damp may have caused an issue? What is O2's policy on this?
