Just spoke to an O2 Guru (online), who assured me that JB for the Samsung Galaxy S2 is in testing, and should be available for install in the next few weeks NOT Months.

I tried Kies and was told I was up to date with version 4.0.4

4.04 is not O2 FW so you are up to date at present.
