Well, it's here, the successor they never thought would come, following off the heels of the fantastic Xperia Z5 premium,  this is the Xperia XZ Premium. 

Featuring the latest powerhouse from qualcomm, the 835 paired with the enhanced adreno 540, all sitting with 4gb of ddr4 ram and 64gb of storage (minus 14gb for the Android nougat OS). The key thing to note however is the fact that not only is it the first device to announce with the 835, but also it uses the new 10nm SOC which delivers roughly 25-30% more speed.... But uses up to 40% less power!!!!

This means that "small" 3230mah battery, is actually going to provide 15-20% more life than the current 14nm systems, even with the 4k hdr display....

Oh yeah, forgot that bit.

The Xperia XZ Premium has the world's first 4k HDR Display on a mobile,..  What does that mean? I'll show you.

That's some difference. 

The phone also boasts an unbelievable and quite simply amazing motion eye camera, at 19mp, each measuring a larger 1.22um to give much better light capture with up to 50% less noise, this is paired with a Sony G f2.0 25mm lens array to give far sharper photos in all light levels, whilst keeping noise at a minimum, but... The unique feature of this camera.. Super slow motion of up to 960fps at 720p. Check this out..

The waterproofing has been kept as expected, and the design whilst very closely resembling XZ, you'll find it much more refined and the rear alkaleido panel has been replaced with curved Gorilla glass,  the USB C port has also been upgraded to USB 3.1 speeds to match the much faster UFS memory on board. 

All in all, I can't wait to get this, and I'll be there day 1 in the queue (lol) to get it.

Perhaps a daft question - but given that carphone warehouse have listed the chrome version as exclusive to them, this isn't going to be available on the O2 store is it?

On from that, if I upgraded my refresh contract with CW instead of O2 direct would it still continue to be a refresh contract or just a standard 24 month one?

You cannot get refresh from CPW, just a standard contract and no, O2 won't be getting the chrome one if CPW have the exclusive, at least not until the end of the agreed period.

That sucks, on both accounts. I did assume as much though. Awh well, back to a standard contract I go then!

The phone is surprisingly cheap mind you. £40 for 3GB/unlimited/unlimted is far less than I expected.

Don't suppose you know, but as I'd need to early upgrade my current refresh contract to order the phone (expires 20.08.17) could i get away with just clearing the remaining handset cost - or will CPW push me into clearing the remaining airtime plan as well?

Cpw won't upgrade u until device refresh cleared.
Clear it with O2 direct, then upgrade in cpw

Yeah, as viridis says, once the device is paid off you can upgrade anywhere without any further monies due.

Ah great. So clear just the outstanding device plan with o2 directly, then place the upgrade order with CPW and that's that? No need to pay the line rental plan off even if CPW will put me onto a standard 24m plan?

The CPW live chat girl was useless, just telling me they can't upgrade me from a refresh contract at all..
