How do I register new phone to the network after upgrade

You can just continue to use your old sim if it's the same size and you have upgraded on o2.

Merely putting in an active sim card will register it on the network. 

Have you received a new sim? 

You will need to do a sim swap here: http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk

The sim will be inactive if you received the upgrade via online or over the phone.

 

if you upgraded in store then they will have activated the sim when they put it in the phone
