Help: put stoopid password on my phone & cannot new emails on laptop

Anonymous
Not applicable

Help ... Anyone ... Please

I've put a password on my Xperia L1 phone ... dunno why ?

This means I have to sign in every bleeping time I use the phone

Gmail on phone now no longer shows any emails ... whereas ... laptop does

I usually use an address book with individual passwords in

Of late I've been using one easily remembered by me

Uppercase / Lowercase / Number(s) / sign(s)

I really really need it to go back to before ... or ... top stop the pain in the 'r$e rigmarole of signing in each naffing time

Any help will be much appreciated

In lock screen settings you can turn off the need to enter a code on the lock screen.

Settings >Securiy and lock screen >Screen lock

Hey @Anonymous , I'd love to hear if the advice above worked and you got your phone/password issue sorted in the end? slight_smile

Hello @Marjo

It's going to be a rather long process with me being the tech numpty that I am ... my phone was up to date with emails when I returned home from town yesterday ... Bouncy ... however this didn't last long ... soon reverted back to 20 June ... & ... still is now Crazy Confused Destroy

I really try to do my best ... my gut feeling is it's Kinetic Energy ? Don't know

@MI5 is providing good advice ... but ... The Numpty (Me) Strikes Again LOL

Let's say Marjo it's a work in progress for me

I would be seriously tempted to advise maybe doing a complete factory reset of the device and make sure the firmware is up to date or using the Software Recovery in the Xperia Companion desktop application on Windows.

Kindest Regards,
Andrew.

I would advise against a factory reset in this instance as the email sync issue is directly related to @Anonymous being half way through setting up her email configuration on laptop.

Once Outlook is set up correctly and syncing with gmail (on another thread) the phone will keep up.

Incidentally, I'm unsure if we are trying to remove the password from lockscreen (which I think has now been done?) or fix the emails on this thread, but as there is already another email thread, I'll assume this is just related to the password?
