Hi, as some of you will know I am in Spain...was very wary of taking new Samsung S3 with me as it would be the first time on contract and unsure of all the ins and outs. Did as you suggested and turned mobile data and data roaming off as I only want to phone and text...Have been here since saturday and all well...until today! Phoned my daughter in UK..all connected chatting away and then we were cut off..(well we were still connected but she couldnt hear me, I couldnt hear her!) Tried again anotther 4 times and the same happened again and again. Luckily i had brought my PAYG mobile with me and rang her on that. No problems. Rang CS on 202 and she said she would refund the connection fee as a goodwill gesture but maybe it was a network problem? I didnt think it was as my PAYG phone on same network (Movistar) and that didnt drop out. So whilst in the middle of the call to CS phone dropped out again! So guys I am asking if you have any ideas? Its going to be an expensive do if I get charged 50p every time i make or receive a call only for it to drop out after a few minutes!

MI5...Heres an update for you. 2 days without phone dropping out then hey ho it started again today...6-7 times. So I tried your advice of using it handsfree on speaker, and it never happened then. Had a chat with my son (who works at Unipart fixing Samsung Phones) I told him what you said about the antenna band, he agreed and wonders if it may have come loose?
Apparently, thats one of the reasons a lot of Samsung go in for repair. he thinks its an easy enough job to fix. Anyway, I fly home tomorrow 17th, so it will be interesting to see if the same thing happens in the UK. I presume if it is antenna band it will happen in the UK as well?
Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks Damien1 I will keep you updated. (At least we know it isn't a network problem as I was told by CS) My old motorola PAYG came with me and thats on same network Movistar, and has never failed me once! I am shutting the computer down now, as I am shortly leaving the lovely sun of the Costa del Sol to fly home to UK. Bye now.

Hi...thought I would check in continuing this post, even though I have been back in the UK since Weds 16th April. The S3 has been working perfectly since my return UNTIL today (Sunday). Started dropping out again 4-5 times on the same call to my daughter. As before, it is showing that we are still connected but she can't hear me and I can't hear her. So its redial again and again to finish a short conversation. (Thankfully it isnt costing 50p every time i redial.. as it did when I was in Spain) but it is really annoying now. Phone was brand new in February and is certainly NOT what I would expect.

Silly question next MI5...How do i get it back to Samsung? Got this through O2 (not online.. but speaking to a sales person) Also, while its 'away', I presume I will have to revert to my old K1 (PAYG) with a completely different sim/phone number??? GRRRR!!

PS...would it be better to take it into an O2 Shop?
