Jellybean update released by HTC on 5th December.. so we might just get it before Xmas !!

Do you mean keypad as in phone dialler - i tried that and all i get is the option to save to peoplek?

Thanks again guys (sorry about the 'c' macblank) MI5, is there a way to upload or paste a screenshot on here so I can show you what appears when I press the call button - something like invalid MMI code ...

That invalid code thing is a security measure to prevent malicious code. It means you can't check that way, but have a look in Settings >About phone (device) and see what it says in there.
