Hi,
For the last 3 years I have managed to keep my M8 on Android 4.4.4 but I now need to install an important App that requires Android 6.01 or later. When I check updates I am being offered v5 with no indication whather I will be allowed to upgrade further to 6.01. Has anyone done this upgrade and can verify what is the latest version I can upgrade to on my M8.
Many thanks,
Ian

According to HTC the latest update for your make of phone is Marshallow (6.0)

You may be better giving their support a call @whatlarks

Edited to add: I have seen YouTube videos showing how to do it... but if not very technically minded you could brick your phone...so I would contact HTC for advice

@whatlarks Good luck. Please come back and let the forum know how you get on with your update. It may be of use to someone else who has the same issue.

Thanks to everyone for their help last year.
12 months on and one by one I am losing important apps that no longer work under v4.4.4. So this weekend I finally took plunge and started the upgrade process. The good news is that the upgrade to v5 went smoothly.
Sadly, that appears to be as far as I am going - no indication of an upgrade to Android v6, which is disapppointing because a couple of important apps have this as a minimum requirement.
I presume it is the firmware version that decides whether I am offered v6. Does anyone know if I can upgrade the firmware to make this happen.
One other thought is I do have a unlock code from O2. Can I unlock the phone and download a vanilla firmware & Android v6 update from HTC?
Thanks,
Ian

Best to check on XDA forum for the options available to you but yes, I would recommend you complete the unlock process first.
