HELP: S2 JellyBean Update Failed - Now Stuck in "Firmware upgrade update encountered an issue"

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I was excited to here that the S2 JellyBean Update was released yesterday, so proceeded to update! Half way through the update failed and in am now stuck with the "Firmware upgrade update encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try again" however no matter how many times I try recovery it fails.

I have browsed the net for ages and seem unable to find a solution, I seem to be able to enter "Download Mode" however phone keeps telling me that the battery is low. I did however leave the phone on charge all last night!!

Please Help.

Try a different version of Odin V1.85 here http://www.4shared.com/rar/QyJGIF8J/Odin_185.htm

Download Odin http://www.android.gs/download-odin-3-07/

Get the S2 O2 ROM from www.sammobile.com (search in firmware tab for i9100o2u).

Unzip the ROM file once only and place it in the same directory you have downloaded Odin to. Place phone in download mode. Open Odin and connect phone to PC with data cable. Wait for COM box to turn blue and click the PDA tab in Odin. Select the ROM file (.md5) and wait for Odin to verify file, then click start & wait. Odin will report a PASS when complete.

However, you need to address the battery issue first as I guess this is why the original update failed so try another fully charged battery or make sure you can charge yours first.

What are the errors reported? Try pulling the battery first before connecting to Odin.

Make sure Kies isn't running too. Try the battery pull before going into download mode. Are you getting the COM box changing colour to confirm phone is connected?
