Since Monday 2nd september my group text messaging has stopped working. I was using a Samsung Galaxy 2s. This has always been a stupid phone because of the ten text limit and has been a source of constant iritation. I went to an O2 Guru and we though the problem had been resolved however as soon as I got home the problem apeared again. I had been informed that the Sony Xperia didnt have the stupid limit of ten texts on groups so have upgraded. Now i find there is a limit of 50 text and when i try to send it has a message you are about to send a lot of texts do you wish to proceed. you have to press this a number of times and while doing this any texts the phone is trying to send will fail so you have to go through them manually! Can i turn this off?

MMS get charged at 35p each. Normally a text sent to more than 5 people gets converted to MMS and you would see heavy charges on your bill unless you have MMS included in your tariff. This maybe why your group texts are failing.
If you check in My O2 it will tell you if you have sent media messages.

This is the simplest comparison I could find:

Essentially you need extra settings on your phone as they are transmitted in a different way to SMS, and can include pictures and large files.
Also MMS must be provisioned on your account by O2.
